i always knew about rocketdyne and the rocket testing going on in the santa susana hills in the east end of simi valley. how could you not know? when they did the rocket tests, it sounded like they were launching the space shuttle from your backyard! but i didn't know that there was a nuclear reactor up there and they were doing nuclear tests as far back as the early 50's. nor did i know that simi valley apparently had our own chernobyl in 1959. you can read the reports from the santa susana field laboratory advisory panel here.
